The 2016 Golf R is a great German sport car. Starting at a price of $37,415, this mature, refined rally-inspired car lacks the huge rear wing. There have not been changes made in the Golf’s look for the last few generations. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf looks like a classic German car and has unique exterior lighting. Soft and elegant blue interior and panel lights give this model a special sport hi-end touch. The 2016 Golf R has a slightly lower static ride height and special wheels, powerful engine, and LED.

The Golf R I am driving is painted in “Lapiz Blue Metallic,” which is a shiny very pretty blue ultramarine color. If you are a blue color lover then go for it!

Volkswagen offers five other colors for the R model:

  • Deep Black Pearl
  • Tornado Red
  • Limestone Grey Metallic, and
  • Oryx White

Interior

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R has beautiful blue interior lightening that together with sufficient interior space gives upscale design relative to the R class. In the 2016 model, Volkswagen uses lots of black and grey repeating all over the place. I want to give a good credit to 2016 Volkswagen Golf R seats. This is a place where the interior really shines. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R come equipped with excellent, supportive, comfortable, leather seats. NOTE – This is a top sport heated seats with the R logo, bucket-style, and race-inspired. The large and bolstered design really let you sink into the action.

The 2016 Golf R has a system featuring Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink, along with other connectivity and convenience features, 6-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport mode. The 2016 Golf R has a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system transfers torque between the front and back wheels. In normal driving conditions, power is delivered to the front wheels.

Engine

This German cars have great performance, quality, and apowerful engine. It comes with a 2.0L TSI engine, one of the most powerful four-cylinder production engines in the world, the Golf R boasts 292 hp and 280 lb-ft of turn-twisting torque. German manufacturers are known for rating their engines in what are close to worst-case conditions, meaning my car felt even healthier than its 292-horsepower rating suggested in the cool April air of the Atlantic. On the road or track, the Golf R has been designed to fire on all cylinders.

Exterior

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf R Rear-view Camera System location is behind the Volkswagen logo in the back of the car. It took me a bit of time to find out the exact location and performance. The rear view camera helps you see and avoid obstacles when backing up and it can make parallel parking easier. The Forward Collision Warning system has sensors in the front to help monitor traffic and can alert you to a potential collision. The 2016 Golf R plays it cool with low-key front and rear bumpers, and redesigned wheels.

Bottom Line

As a German made car, the 2016 Volkswagen Golf R gives you great quality and excellent performance. Is this a family car? Don’t think so, unless your family is small and doesn’t require large interior space. If you like a combination between a sport powerful country car and city vehicle, then this is the one. I am sure that the 2016 Golf R is a great option as a city and country side car. Let’s say this is a combination between a fancy sport vehicle in a city, and powerful car in the country side.
